This is more than just a jacket—it’s a living relic from the early days of mechanised warfare. Issued to elite armoured divisions of the French Army in the 1930s and early 1940s, the M35 tank crew jacket was built to endure life inside steel machines where heat, oil, and fire were constant threats. It wasn’t made for comfort—it was made for survival.
Crafted from heavyweight, vegetable-tanned horsehide and lined with coarse cotton-drill canvas, the M35 was designed to insulate and protect. This example bears every mark of service: field repairs, sun-faded sleeves, deep creases, and a patina forged through years of hard use. Large brown bakelite buttons secure the double-breasted front, and an original military stamp remains visible inside—a rare and vital detail confirming its wartime provenance.
Professionally cleaned and conditioned using specialist heritage techniques, the leather has been revived without compromising its integrity. The canvas lining has been delicately cleaned, preserving the official military stamp and battle-worn authenticity. All original buttons remain intact, carefully cleaned to retain their aged finish.
