About Revive & Restore Vintage

Breathing New Life Into History

At Revive & Restore Vintage, we bring original leather jackets back to life — one meticulously restored piece at a time. What began as a personal passion has evolved into a dedicated craft centered on preserving the stories embedded in every stitch and crease.

The Craftsman Behind the Restoration

I'm Leigh, founder and master restorer. My journey with vintage leather began over a decade ago when I discovered a worn 1940s German motorcycle jacket at a local market. Captivated by its character but dismayed by its condition, I set out to learn the disappearing art of proper leather restoration.

Over the past decade, I've trained with leading leather specialists and dry cleaners, learning how to preserve structure, grain, and authenticity without compromise. Along the way, I've revived old-world methods and developed new ones to do the job properly. Through years of hands-on experience, I've developed a restoration approach that honours each garment's unique history while ensuring it remains wearable for decades to come.

Our Mill Workshop

Every restoration happens by hand in our workshop housed within a historic Yorkshire mill in the South Pennines. The weathered stone walls, exposed beams, and industrial character of our space perfectly complement the vintage pieces we revive. In this atmospheric setting, where craftsmanship has thrived for generations, each jacket undergoes a transformation that respects its origins.

The rhythmic sounds of restoration work echo through the same space where textile artisans once plied their trade—a fitting continuity of British manufacturing heritage. From WWII flight jackets to 1950s biker leathers, each jacket is chosen for its history, character, and potential to be worn again.

The Restoration Philosophy

This isn't restoration for show — it's restoration that lasts. I don't simply clean and condition; I study each jacket's construction, research its era, and revive it using techniques authentic to its time period. When necessary, I source period-correct materials for repairs, ensuring historical integrity in every detail.

What sets our work apart is the balance between preservation and rejuvenation. A properly restored vintage jacket should retain the character of its journey while being robust enough for daily wear. This delicate balance requires patience, expertise, and a profound respect for craftsmanship.
