Vintage RAF Irvin Sheepskin Flying Jacket by Cirrus

This RAF Irvin was produced during the 1990s, a period when Cirrus Originals were creating faithful interpretations of classic British flight jackets. While not a wartime original, jackets of this type closely followed the established Irvin pattern, prioritising insulation, durability, and function over decoration, remaining true to the purpose that defined the original design.

The cut is short and practical, sitting at the waist to retain warmth without restricting movement. The body allows ease through the chest while remaining balanced and controlled in profile. The front closes with a full-length zip, supported by a broad shearling collar that can be worn open or fastened high at the neck for additional protection. Adjustable waist straps allow the fit to be drawn in as intended, while zipped cuffs help seal out wind and cold. Every element reflects the jacket’s aviation origins, designed to perform rather than impress.

Constructed from heavy brown sheepskin, the jacket combines a supple exterior with a dense, even fleece lining throughout. The leather retains its natural grain and flexibility, showing no brittleness or dryness, while the fleece remains full across the body, collar, and cuffs. The structure remains strong, with the jacket holding its shape well through the back, sleeves, and panels.
