A cold-weather icon of military aviation. Originally developed in the 1930s for U.S. Army Air Corps pilots flying unpressurised bombers, the B-3 was engineered for survival at altitude—where sub-zero temperatures demanded more than ordinary outerwear. This 1980s example remains true to that legacy, built with thick sheepskin shearling and a durable full-grain leather shell that retains the unmistakable silhouette and functionality of the originals.

The oversized shearling collar fastens with a throat latch, sealing in warmth and blocking wind. Reinforced leather seams, heavy-duty metal hardware, and adjustable side buckles all speak to its military-grade construction. Inside, the plush shearling lining offers uncompromising insulation, making this jacket as practical today as it was for the pilots who once relied on it.

Professionally restored, the leather has been carefully cleaned and conditioned using heritage techniques that preserve its natural finish and flexibility. The shearling lining has been cleaned and remains soft, warm, and fully intact. Zipper and buckle hardware have been serviced for smooth operation, and all original construction details remain present. Light surface wear is consistent with age, enhancing the jacket’s authenticity without affecting structure or performance.
