Built for authority and endurance, this original 1940s Striwa trench coat is a commanding example of German service leatherwork from the wartime era. Unlike the heavier officer’s Ledermantel, this style was issued to Polizei and other state service units, balancing function with a presence designed to project discipline on the streets and in the field.

Cut from supple yet durable goatskin, the coat carries a strength that remains undeniable even after more than 80 years. Its surface shows a beautiful, storied patina, with natural creasing and tonal depth that no reproduction can capture — a testament to both its quality and its long service life.

Every detail speaks to its purpose. A double Gutos buckle belt and internal storm belt were built to secure the fit against wind and weather. A removable fur collar and moleskin lining offered warmth and adaptability, while storm cuffs, slanted welt pockets, and a rear vent with press studs reflect both practicality and tailoring precision. Together, these details form a coat made not only to endure but to command respect.

This piece has been specialist leather cleaned and professionally conditioned, ensuring the hide remains supple and strong while preserving its original character. Nothing has been over-restored; its history is intact, and its presence is as powerful today as when first issued.
