This exceptional German leather trench coat by H. Lingemann of Munich dates from the 1940s, crafted during a time when tailored refinement met military precision. Privately purchased pieces such as this were often worn by Wehrmacht officers, commissioned directly from master leather tailors rather than issued through standard supply. Built for authority, warmth, and endurance, these coats embodied both the discipline of the uniform and the personal pride of the officer who wore it.

Constructed from heavy, horsehide leather in a deep green tone, the coat carries a commanding structure and natural lustre developed beautifully over time. Its sharply contoured shoulders, belted waist, and long double-breasted front reflect the strong, architectural lines of officer tailoring. The reinforced rear yoke adds further definition and strength, maintaining the coat’s sculpted silhouette. Inside, a green moleskin lining with quilted reinforcements offers warmth and comfort — details consistent with high-end, privately commissioned garments from this era.

Professionally cleaned and conditioned in-house, the leather has been carefully revived to restore flexibility, depth, and richness while preserving its authentic finish. The material remains strong and supple, with light creasing and tonal variation that highlight its age and originality. All hardware, including the Gutos Patent belt buckle, leather buttons, and throat latch, operate smoothly. The lining is intact, clean, and soft to the touch. Overall, the coat presents in excellent vintage condition, retaining its original weight, structure, and commanding presence.
