A highly considered collaboration between Edwin, Blitz Motorcycles and Stewart Leather, produced for Autumn Winter 2013. This S.E.B. motorcycle jacket reflects a meeting of design, material and construction, where each contributor brings a distinct role, resulting in a piece that sits closer to specialist manufacture than standard fashion production.
The silhouette draws from 1970s racing jackets, cut clean through the body with a controlled, close profile that follows the line of the wearer without excess. The structure is deliberate and balanced, with a straight zip front, angled chest pockets and a stand collar that fastens neatly at the neck. The proportions are sharp and considered, allowing the material to carry the jacket.
Constructed in Italy by Stewart Leather, the jacket is cut from dense horsehide of substantial weight. The leather has a firm, structured handle with a tight, smooth grain, carrying a deep, natural tone with subtle variation across the surface. It holds its shape with authority, standing cleanly when unworn, while remaining supple enough for comfortable use. The weight and density are immediately apparent in hand, reflecting the quality of the hide and the standard of manufacture.
Hardware throughout is of a high standard, with RiRi zips fitted across the front and pockets. These operate smoothly and sit correctly within the jacket, consistent with the level of construction.
Internally, the jacket is finished with a printed lining featuring a detailed map of Paris, marking the daily route of the Blitz founders. This detail anchors the piece to its origin and collaboration, adding context without detracting from the overall restraint of the exterior.
This was produced as part of a limited Edwin x Blitz collaboration, with construction by Stewart Leather in Italy. Examples are rarely encountered, particularly in this condition, and the combination of materials, maker and design places it above typical collaboration pieces of the period.
Condition and Preservation
The jacket presents in excellent overall condition, showing minimal signs of wear.
The horsehide remains firm, structured and well balanced, with a clean surface and consistent tone throughout. The leather retains its original character, with no signs of cracking, dryness or structural weakness. There is only light creasing visible in areas of movement, consistent with limited use.
All seams remain secure and the structure is sound. The RiRi hardware is complete and functions as intended, with all zips operating smoothly.
Inside, the lining is clean, well preserved and fully intact, with the printed map detail remaining clear and sharp.
The garment has been carefully cleaned and lightly conditioned in our workshop to maintain the balance of the leather while preserving its original finish.
