You’ll be noticed in this. That’s the first thing to know, and the only warning you’ll get.
A grey January morning in town. Everyone on the pavement is in black, navy or the odd sensible camel. Then you step out in pale ice-blue suede, cream fleece at the collar and cuffs, and olive green where nobody expects it. Heads turn the way they do for a good car.
Under the colour, it’s a serious jacket. It borrows from the B-3, the sheepskin bomber jacket American crews flew in through the thirties and the war: a short body you can move in, fleece worn on the inside, a big collar to turn up against the wind, and buckled straps at each side of the waist to shut out the draught. Diesel kept every one of those ideas and threw out the brown. The olive panels sit where a working jacket takes its knocks, at the pockets, the elbows, the cuffs and the hem. The collar stand is quilted so it stays up on its own.
Justin Bieber understood the point of it. He wore one through Zagreb airport in November 2016 on the Purpose World Tour, with dark utility trousers and a black and white beanie, and the photographs went round the world.
It was a 2016-season Diesel Heritage piece, and it’s been hard to find since. This one has been worn a handful of times. The suede is clean, the fleece is thick, and the label inside still reads “reworked by us”.
Black and navy will still be there tomorrow. Let everyone else wear them.
Condition & Restoration
Superb condition for a 10 year old jacket, worn only on a handful of occasions. The suede is clean and even, the fleece is full and soft, and the olive panels, stitching and hardware are all as they should be. Both inside labels are present. It has had a light clean by hand in the workshop, and it’s ready to wear.
Size & Fit
All measurements are taken with the garment laid flat.
- Chest (armpit to armpit): 23 in / 58.5 cm
- Shoulders (seam to seam): 18.5 in / 47 cm
- Sleeve (shoulder seam to cuff): 27 in / 68.5 cm
- Underarm seam to cuff: 20 in / 51 cm
- Back length (base of collar to hem): 25 in / 63.5 cm
Best suited to: a 44" chest regular, or a 46" chest for a slim fit.
Fit: This is cut slim and meant to be worn close to the body, not relaxed. On a 44" chest there’s room for a shirt or a fine knit underneath. On a 46" it sits closer, the way it was designed to. Go by the measurements rather than the XL on the label.
Compare these measurements with a jacket you already own.
