Some jackets are merely owned—this one was relied upon.
Made in Sweden in the early 1950s, this Malungs Äkta Getskinn hunting jacket is a rugged product of post-war necessity, where survival meant layering up with gear built to last. Cut from vegetable-tanned goatskin, the leather is supple, deeply creased, and alive with character—its warm cognac tone shaped by years in the woods, across fields, and through weathered terrain.
Practicality is embedded in every detail: buttoned chest and hip pockets, original epaulettes, and a matching goatskin belt that secures the waist with quiet authority. The original plaid wool lining offers insulation and earthy texture, anchoring the jacket in its Scandinavian roots. Designed for the outdoors but cut with timeless style, it balances utility with understated presence.
This jacket has undergone a full professional restoration using specialist leather cleaning techniques tailored to heritage skins. The collar, once saturated with years of embedded grease, was carefully degreased, re-toned, and sealed with a satin finish. The original buckle—previously corroded—was stripped, restored, and preserved. Throughout the process, the aim was preservation, not perfection.
