This isn’t just a vintage jacket—it’s a symbol of survival, rebellion, and raw self-expression. Born out of the ruins of post-war Germany, this late 1940s motorcycle jacket speaks to a generation rebuilding not just cities, but identity. For the bikers of that era, gear wasn’t about aesthetics—it was protection, presence, and attitude. Longer than most rider’s jackets, this one carries a coat-like silhouette with unmistakable edge—a practical cut made to weather the road, the bar, and everything in between.
Crafted from soft yet substantial chrome-tanned cowhide, the leather has developed a bold, natural patina—proof of its life in motion. The original wool lining adds warmth without weight, while a Vitex brass zipper runs smoothly through the centre. Two angled chest zips and two deep hip pockets provide function without flash, and the button-tab cuffs keep things stripped-back and purposeful.
Expertly cleaned and conditioned with specialist techniques, the leather has been brought back to life while preserving its hard-earned character. One inner sleeve lining has been carefully replaced for strength and wearability, while the cuff hems have been discreetly reinforced. No major repairs to the body or lining were needed—just a bit of restoration to honour what’s already here: creasing, light abrasions, chapped collar edges, and all the marks of a well-travelled life.
