Based in the Pennines of Northern England, Revive & Restore Vintage is shaped by a landscape where time, weather, and work leave their mark. Surrounded by open moorland and a long industrial heritage, the ethos is simple: respect what has endured, repair what still has life, and preserve garments made with purpose and integrity.
Breathing New Life Into History
It started with a jacket.
A battered 1940s motorcycle piece, scarred and forgotten, discovered at a car boot over a decade ago. The leather was cracked, the lining torn, yet something about it stopped me, the weight of the hide, the smell, the years still clinging to it. It wasn't simply clothing; it was a story that had survived.
That moment set me on a path I never left.
I became absorbed in the craft of leather restoration, studying the structure, texture, and behaviour of aged hides. What began as curiosity developed into years of refinement, guided by traditional knowledge and a clear understanding of how leather responds to time, wear, and careful handling.
Through countless hours restoring historic pieces, I developed a deep understanding of aged leather, and how to bring it back without compromising its character or integrity. Over time, my focus narrowed to what truly mattered: selecting, restoring, and offering vintage leather jackets on my own terms.
The Process
From the workshop, each jacket is selected for its construction, material and character, then restored with longevity as the guiding principle.
Where time has left its mark, structural repairs are undertaken using specialist leather restoration techniques. Seams are reinforced where required, weakened areas secured, and surface wear addressed with restraint. Minor losses may be filled with precision, with grain and texture rebuilt where appropriate, and colour work carried out only when continuity demands it. The objective is preservation, never over-correction.
Every garment undergoes expert cleaning to remove decades of embedded soiling and odours, before being nourished using workshop-formulated conditioners developed specifically for vintage hides. Essential oils are restored, maintaining suppleness without compromising character or patina.
There is no mass production or shortcuts, and no attempt to make a jacket appear new. The work is measured and deliberate, ensuring the leather remains supple, the structure sound, and ready to be worn for decades to come as a genuine original.
Recognition
Over the years, this work has reached collectors, stylists, and film productions. Restored jackets have been sourced for Pinewood Studios and the series SAS: Rogue Heroes, a natural home for garments defined by history, character, and resilience.
What began as a personal obsession has become a lifelong craft, carrying history forward one jacket at a time.
